MLK day is nothing more or less than a time to take off from class and for some others a time to reminisce about partially how far this country has come since Martin Luther King Jr. made his historical “I have a dream” speech. Today I received an email from one of the keynotes I have attended and he included the following quote and I hope you can take a lesson from it like I did. Enjoy!
“On some positions,
Cowardice asks the question
"Is it safe?"
Expediency asks the question
"Is it politic?"
And Vanity comes along and asks the question
"Is it popular?"
But Conscience asks the question
"Is it right?"
And there comes a time
when one must take a position
that is neither safe,
nor politic, nor popular,
but he must do it because
Conscience tells him it is right.”
-Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
